Release notes
What changed, version by version. The app checks for updates on its own; you can also download the latest directly.
1.0.0 September 2026
- A shelf that hangs from the notch. Drag anything onto it, switch apps, Spaces or displays, and pick it up from the same place.
- Free holds one item at a time, forever. Pro holds as many as you like.
- Pro: carousel through what you're holding, or open the view-all tray and drag a whole selection out in one gesture.
- Pro: hold Shift while dropping and the item stays on the shelf, so one file can go to several places without collecting it again.
- Pro is priced per Mac: one key for 1, 2 or 3 Macs.
- Drop a whole Finder selection at once. Every file lands on the shelf, not just the first.
- TIFFs become PNGs on the way in, so what you drag back out is something every app accepts. Originals are untouched.
- Link previews: dropped URLs show the page's title and image.
- QuickLook with Space, copy path with ⌘C, convert images on drop.
- Follows your pointer between displays and stays available in full-screen apps. No Accessibility permission needed.
- First launch is blocked by macOS because the app is not notarized. See notchhold.app/install for the 20-second fix.
- Also installable with Homebrew: brew install --cask rupam-shil/notchhold/notchhold
- A short tutorial on first launch, since a menu bar app with no window is hard to find. Re-open it any time from the menu bar under How It Works.
